Rematec and its importance in the global aftermarket!

Technology trends like electrification, shared mobility platforms, connectivity and autonomous driving are about to have a strong impact on the automotive aftermarket. There is consolidation throughout the supply chain and OEMs are taking stronger positions. In addition to this, there is a big push for sustainability which cannot be neglected. Remanufacturing is a central pillar of the Circular Economy.

In these exciting times, the Rematec 2023 exhibition offers clarity, insight, opportunities, state-of-the-art remanufacturers, and the latest remanufacturing equipment (e.g. parts cleaning, surface treatment, turbo balancing, testing and diagnostic equipment, core supply and reman services).

With today’s technological trends, key themes such as Electric Vehicles, Battery Packs, and Sustainable Manufacturing are becoming more complex and remanufacturing process become more sophisticated.

Electric Vehicles

Electric Vehicles are vehicles that are either partially or fully powered on electric power. Electric vehicles have low running costs as they have less moving parts for maintenance and are also very environmentally friendly as they use little or no fossil fuels (petrol or diesel).

Electric Vehicles are the future, also with the ambitious goal set by European Commission to make Europe carbon emission-free by 2050. This decision will speed up Europe’s shift towards electric vehicles (EVs). As a result of this important electrical paradigm shift, and to prepare new strategies, remanufacturers must follow the new technical developments closely and start immediately to study and research these new systems and their new components. Experts in the field will share experiences in our Theatre programme.

Battery Pack

The main focus of remanufacturing lies in the recycling of batteries, which basically means extending the life of the product or component. Intact parts and components are reused, while defective or faulty components are removed or replaced. The rising demand for batteries throughout the world puts a large pressure on the Earth’s scarce resources. At the end of the battery’s life, only a small fraction of its cells is no longer usable. This means the potential for remanufacturing is high, but the traditional approach to remanufacturing is not applicable. In our Battery Corner, we provide knowledge sharing and demonstrations on battery pack remanufacturing.

Sustainable Manufacturing

The worldwide focus on sustainability and the circular economy, in combination with the current large price increases of raw materials, require sustainable manufacturing methods. The remanufacturing industry has the knowledge and expertise to produce sustainably and improve the product life cycle. A large and growing number of manufacturers are realizing substantial financial and environmental benefits from sustainable business practices. Sustainable manufacturing is the creation of manufactured products through economically-sound processes that minimize negative environmental impacts while conserving energy and natural resources. These companies are treating sustainability as an important objective in their strategy and operations to increase growth and global competitiveness.
